Hello June.

June has arrived.  And with it, all its glory.  Warm sunny days intermixed with thunderstorms and rain showers.  This means summer has arrived in our great valley.  Windows that were shut tight all winter are now staying open each day, letting the fresh smells fill our home.   It is my happy time.  The school year is wrapping up and with it the promise of lazy summer days with my girls.  My favorite times.  No more distraction of school or activities...just lots of outside family time.  A time to reconnect.  A time when play dates mean cousins rather than school friends.  A time when weekends are full of camping and paddle boarding.  With the beautiful days we've gotten a head start on summer type things.
Things like heading to the mountains...

Hiking, picnics, exploring...

Spending time on the trails before they get overrun with tourists.  When that begins we will head deeper into the mountains on weekends.  We will sneak in mid-week hikes when the trails are lighter.  We will do this without irritation at our mountains being overtaken...knowing they are enjoying the beauty we are lucky enough to live in every day.

We've also gotten a head start on the ice cream-more-days-than-not summer routine.  With the newest ice cream truck right in our little downtown we've found a new favorite...

We really made sure it was good by visiting it twice this weekend.  What can I say?  We are suckers for ice cream.  Side note-I SO love the picture Matt captured of the girls and I.  The bright Bozeman colors, the words that represent our community...love.  (The last words that are cut off are my favorite... Be Nice.  Our family motto.)

With summer comes all good things, except it means the time has come for my baby sister to move.  With heavy hearts we will say good bye as they go on to the next chapter in their story.  But, first we celebrated with them and a final (for now) family kick ball game/barbecue...

It was the first barbecue of the summer and with that, of course, comes watermelon...

They will be missed.

Six and half days left of school.  Two weeks left until family vacation.  Birthday celebrations, graduation parties, final field trips and end of the school year lunches tucked in between.  Wonderful, happy things happen in June.  And July and August.  Summertime is here.
